Delhi, NY - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon jumped out to a 22-2 lead after one quarter and went on to rout the State University of New York at Delhi, 81-22, in Friday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game. With the win Lyndon improved to 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in NAC play. Delhi fell to 2-14 overall and 0-6 in conference.
Freshman forward Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT)had a huge game to lead the Hornets. She was 9/13 from the floor on the way to a 20-point night. she also pulled down a game high 15 rebounds. Senior forward Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) also had a big game inside, posting 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) added 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Jennifer Roche Jimenez led Delhi with seven points and eight rebounds.
The Hornets overwhelmed the Broncos on the glass, winning the battle of the boards 70-21. Lyndon was 34/82 (41.5%) from the floor while Delhi was only 8/49 (16.3%). Lyndon also turned 19 Bronco turnovers into 21 points.
Lyndon returns to the court Saturday afternoon when they square off against SUNY Cobleskill in Cobleskill. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
