Delhi, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's basketball team held an eight-point halftime lead at the State University of New York at Delhi on Friday evening. Unfortunately for the Hornets, a late 15-0 Bronco run propelled the hosts to an 84-71 victory in the North Atlantic Conference crossover game. Delhi improved to 9-7 on the season and 3-3 in NAC play, while Lyndon fell to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in conference.
Isiah Barnes led Delhi with 22 points, including a perfect 12/12 at the free throw line. Mavenson Therneus posted a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Lester McCarthy chipped in 13 points. Mondwell Bukle (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) scored a game high 24 points to lead Lyndon, while Justin Phillips (Phoenix, AZ) and Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY) added 15 points apiece.
Delhi outrebounded Lyndon 31-23 in the second half and forced 21 Hornet turnovers, which led to 28 Bronco points.
The Hornets will travel to SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday for a 3:00 pm NAC crossover game.
