Castleton, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on day two of the annual Vermont Volleyball Classic. The Hornets fell to Norwich University in their first match of the day, then to Northern Vermont University-Johnson in their tournament finale. Lyndon is winless in three starts on the young season.
Norwich 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-5)
The Cadets jumped in front right away and cruised to the victory. Ana Lopez led Norwich with nine kills and eight aces. Ava Nihill had 11 assists and Autumn Parkhurst six digs for the Cadets.
Calysta Lohman (Seward, AK) led Lyndon with five kills and Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) recorded five assists and six digs. Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) chipped in with six digs and three assists.
NVU-Johnson 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-9, 25-3, 25-7)
With the first set tied at 6-6, the Badgers went on a 10-1 run and never looked back. Christina Betham and Nataliea Medina had six kills each for Johnson. Setter Mason Lores jhad a big match with 16 assists and ten aces.
Lohman and Mary Grace Weissauer (Milford, CT) had Lyndon's only kills, with Morris assisting on both of them. Lohman had a team high foour digs.
The Hornets return to the court on Wednesday evening when they host Plymouth State University in the home opener. The match will begin at approximately 7:30 pm, following a match between Plymouth State and NVU-Johnson that will be played at Lyndon.
