Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team opened their home season by hosting Plymouth State University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening. It was the visiting Panthers who spoiled Lyndon's home debut, sweeping the match in three sets, 25-5, 25-8, 25-6. Plymouth State improves to 3-2 on the season, while Lyndon is winless in four outings.
Plymouth was in control throughout and featured a balanced attack. Emilee Flanagan led the Panthers with seven kills and Ryley McNeeley added six kills. Setter Riley McDonough recorded 21 assists and Kalista Butler added another 10 assists. Imalay Rodriguez Martinez notched 10 digs.
Calysta Lohman (Seward, AK) had a pair of kills and Victoria Valentine (East Burke, VT) had two assists for the Hornets. Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) finished with five digs.
The Hornets travel to Maine this weekend for the Colby College Volleyball Tournament. Lyndon will take on fellow North Atlantic Conference foe Cazenovia College and Mount Holyoke College on Friday evening, before concluding play with a match against Gordon College on Saturday.
