Castleton, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team continued to make positive steps despite coming up short at Castleton University in Wednesday evening's non-conference match. The Spartans prevailed in straight sets, 25-14, 25-9, 25-17. Castleton improved to 4-8 on the season, while Lyndon remained winless in 13 outings.
Hailey Martinovich led Castleton with ten kills and eight digs. Vanessa LeBrun added six kills and six digs, and setter Maddie Delsignore recorded a match high 23 assists. Calysta Lohman (Seward, AK) paced the Hornets with a career high ten kills and eight digs. Seairra Anderson (Somersworth, NH) also recorded eight digs. Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) had 11 assists and Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) had a pair of blocks.
The Hornets continued to show signs of improvement, as the 40 points won was the most by the Hornets in a match so far this season. The 25-17 third set was also Lyndon's closest set of the season.
Lyndon will open up North Atlantic Conference play this weekend. On Saturday, they will travel to five-time defending NAC champion Maine Maritime Academy for a 2:00 pm match. Then on Sunday they will play at Husson University in another conference affair.
