Box Score 2 Bangor, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon was unable to generate any offense in their North Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Husson University on Saturday afternoon. The host Eagles allowed only four Hornet hits on the day and shut out the Hornets in both ends of the twin bill by identical 8-0 scores. Husson improves to 12-6 on the season, while Lyndon falls to 5-9. The games were the NAC openers for both teams.
Game 1 - Husson 8, NVU-Lyndon 0
Husson scored in every inning and cruised to the win. Meagan Gosselin was three for three with two doubles, three runs batted in, and two runs scored to lead the Eagle attack. Erin Bonenfant was also three for three with a double. Teagan Blackie had a pair of hits and Katie Windsor drove in two runs.
Meanwhile, the Hornets only mustered up a fifth inning single from Riann Fortin (Derby, VT) off of Husson reliever Tatyanna Biamby. Eagle starter McKenna Smith struck out nine batters and didn't allow a hit in her three innings of work. Emily Anderson (Levittown, NY) started and went the distance for the Hornets.
Game 2 - Husson 8, NVU-Lyndon 0
Husson took control of the game with a two-out, five-run rally in the bottom of the second inning. Windsor's two-run single and Kenzie Dore's two-run triple were the big blows of the inning. Dore and Bonenfant had two hits apeice in the game. Fortin, Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT), and Amber Everett (Morrisville, VT) each had a base hit for Lyndon.
Husson's Jen Jones got the win after allowing only two hits and striking out seven in four innings of work. Jill Bisson then came on to deliver a scoreless fifth inning. Emily Anderson started and took the loss, going 2.2 innings before being relieved by Seairra Anderson (Somersworth, NH).
The Hornets will continue their weekend trip to Maine on Sunday when they square off against the University of Maine at Presque Isle in another NAC doubleheader. The games will be played in the Mahaney Dome at the University of Maine at Orono, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 noon.
