SUNY Delhi stifles Hornet siftball bats

Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon softball team couldn't get their bats going in either end of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference doubleheader with the State University of Nerw York at Delhi.  The Hornets were unable to push a run across in either game and only collected four hits in the nightcap after getting no-hit in the opener.  SUNY Delhi improved to 12-19 overall and evened their conference mark at 7-7, while Lyndon fell to 2-22 on the season and remained winless in 14 NAC outings

Game 1 - SUNY Delhi 12, VTSU Lyndon 0

Delhi pitcher Angela Dickel was the story of the opener, as she no-hit the Hornets over five innings.  Dickel earned the win after striking out four against two walks.  The Hornets also did themselves no favors, committing nine errors.  Hornet pitcher Riley McNamara (Manchester, NH) only allowed one earned run and eight hits in taking the loss.

Grace Sperry paced the Delhi attack with a single and a double with three runs batted in.  Stephanie Huckabee had a double and a pair of RBIs for the Broncos.

Lundsey Gannon (Beverly, MA) and Kazandra Gonzalez (Norwalk, CA) both drew walks for the Hornets.  Megan Richardson (Essex Junction, VT) was the only other Lyndon baserunner, as she got aboard on an error.

Game 2 - SUNY Delhi 24, VTSU Lyndon 0

Delhi exploded for 22 hits including nine extra base knocks in the nightcap.  Sperry had two doubles, a triple, two runs batted in, and four runs scored.  Julia Pence was three for three at the plate with three RBIs.  Huckabee had a double and a triple and drove in four.

Chloe Murphy (Manchester, NH) had two of Lyndon's four hits.  Gonzalez and Richardson also hit safely.
