Lyndonville, VT - SUNY Delhi controlled Friday's North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon from the onset and cruised to a 29-1 victory. The NAC leading Broncos remain unbeaten in conference play at 6-0 and improve to 7-5 overall. The Hornets fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-4 in the NAC.
Fourteen different Broncos scored, as Delhi's depth was on display throughout. Benjamin Moscatiello had a big game with five goals and three assists. Greg Junge added four goals while Nico Rivera and Nicholas Iannucci each recorded hat tricks. Kyle Brogan had a pair of goals and a game high six assists. Nolan Danielewski had 16 ground balls and Sean Dalton caused five turnovers.
Anthony Townsend (Pembroke, MA) scored Lyndon's only goal and added four ground balls. Luc Parrett (Eden Mills, VT) had a pair of ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Samuel Steng started in goal for Delhi and earned the win, stopping both of the shots on goal that he faced. James Sullivan relieved Steng in the second half and made one save. Rob Casucci (Fairfield, CT) made his first career appearance in goal for the Hornets and made nine saves. Casucci was also credited with a team high six ground balls.
Delhi outshot Lyndon, 56-5, and had a 72-16 advantage in ground balls. The Broncos were also perfect at the X, winning all 34 faceoffs, with Danielewski, Nick Dower, and Nick Lamoreaux sharing duties. Lyndon committed 23 turnovers to 15 for Delhi. The Hornets were only successful on nine of 25 clear attempts, while Delhi was perfect on 14 clears.
The Hornets will return to action on Sunday morning, when they host SUNY Cobleskill in another NAC matchup. Game time is set for 11:00 am.
