Hornet men's lacrosse drops NAC matchup to MCLA

Lyndonville, VT - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts scored five unanswered goals in the second quarter to take control of Thursday's North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.  The Trailblazers then pulled away for a 19-4 victory, raising their overall record to 3-9 and their conference record to 2-5.  The Hornets fall to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 n the NAC.

Nathan Haley had a big game for MCLA.  He finished with eight goals and two assists, and added five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.  John Hankel scored four goals with an assist and Tom Irwin had three goals, three assists, and five ground balls.  Matthew Wallace also scored three goals.  Nate Allen finished with a game high nine ground balls and Brad Dowd was credited with five caused turnovers.

Anthony Townsend (Pembroke, MA) and Benjamin Cheever (Johnson, VT) each scored twice and posted one assist for Lyndon.  Cam Meigs (St. Johnsbury, VT) also had an assist.

MCLA goalie Boden Dock made five saves and got credit for the win.  Hornet goalie Aaron Florence (Lutz, FL) made 13 stops.

MCLA outshot Lyndon, 51-24, and held a 44-30 advantage in ground balls.  The Trailblazers also won 16 of 27 faceoffs.  Lyndon turned the ball over 29 times to 20 for MCLA.

The Hornets will be home again on Saturday afternoon, when they host Husson University at 2:00 pm.  Saturday's game will also be Senior Day, as 10 Hornet seniors will be recognized prior to the game.
