Lyndonville, VT - Fisher College pounded out 15 hits and 16 runs and went on to defeat Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 16-3, in a non-conference college baseball game on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Falcons improve to 22-23 on the season, while the Hornets fall to 7-19 with the loss.
The Falcons jumped in front with three runs in the top of the first inning, then put the game away with a six-run fifth inning. Designated hitter Elijah Perez was three for four with two doubles, five runs batted in, and three runs scored to lead the hit parade. Ivanuel Hernandez homered, doubled, and singled, driving in four runs and scoring twice. Jacob Deziel also had three hits and scored three runs for the Falcons.
Lyndon scored all three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run double from Anthony Ness (Silver Springs, NY) and a sacrifice fly from Parker Perron (Barton, VT). John Mahoney (Navarre, FL), Tyler Murro (Littleton, NH), Carlos Batista (Davenport, FL), Dylan Wilson (Monroe, CT), and Sean Cavanaugh (Londonderry, NH) had the other Hornet hits.
Norberto Ceballos started on the mound for Fisher and earned the win, allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 5.1 innings. Hornet starter Cooper Whitehouse (South Berwick, ME) took the loss.
The Hornets jump back into North Atlantic Conference play this weekend when they travel to Thomas College for a four game series. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader will be at 1:00 pm.
