Canton, NY - SUNY Canton scored seven goals in the first five minutes of Saturday's North Atlantic Conferrence men's lacrosse game, then cruised to a 23-4 victory over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. Canton improves to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in NAC play with the win. Lyndon falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in conference.
Hunter Olsen had a huge game for the Roos. He finished with five goals, six assists, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Austin Mesler and Kyle Fingar both recorded hat tricks and Noah Robinson notched a pair of goals and four assists. Logan McCargar had a game high six ground balls.
Benjamin Cheever (Johnson, VT) scored a pair of unassisted goals for Lyndon. Anthony Townsend (Pembroke, MA) scored once and assisted on Cam Meigs' (St. Johnsbury, VT) man-up goal. Townsend also led the Hornets with four ground balls.
Sam Servati played the first three quarters in goal for the Roos. He made three saves and was credited with the win. Trent Dow relieved Servati in the fourth quarter and made three saves without allowing a goal. Aaron Florence (Lutz, FL) went the distance in the Hornet goal. He finished with 10 saves.
The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Plymouth State University in a non-conference contest. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
