Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornet men's soccer can't hold onto early lead at Cazenovia

Cazenovia, NY - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon took an early lead in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game at Cazenovia College.  The Hornets weren't able to maintain the advantage, however, as the host Wildcats scored five unanswered goals to come away with the 5-1 victory.  With the win, Cazenovia improved to 3-5-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in NAC play.  Lyndon fell to 1-8-1 overall and remained winless in six conference starts.

The Hornets got off to a good start when Georgio Fazzary (Hector, NY) fired a shot past Cazenovia goalkeeper Hayden McBath to give Lyndon the 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute.  The lead would prove to be short lived, however, as in the 15th minute Miruho Kandagira found Dimitrios Botos and Botos converted the equalizer.  Cazenovia grabbed the lead in the 30th minute, when Kandagira scored.  That would be how things stood at halftime.

Cazenovia's Vincent Manco gave the Wildcats some breathing room with a goal in the 48th minute.  Saad Saidaden extended the Wildcat lead to 4-1 in the 74th minute, then assisted on a Kamdyn Harris goal in the 79th minute to complete the scoring.

Cazenovia outshot Lyndon, 24-6.  Hornet goalkeeper Jakob Cannon (Monument, CO) made 11 saves in the Lyndon net, while McBath turned away three Hornet shots.

Lyndon completes their weekend in Upstate New York on Sunday afternoon when they play at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
