Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Shorthanded Hornet women's soccer team defeated by Husson

Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's soccer team, playing with several starters out with injuries, suffered a 5-0 defeat in their North Atlantic Conference game against Husson University on Saturday afternoon.  Husson improved to 8-6-1 on the season and 7-0-1 in NAC play.  Lyndon fell to 2-9-1 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Husson got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute when Charlotte Messer scored an unassisted goal.  The Eagles made it 2-0 in the 21st minute after Megan Buddemeyer found Camryn Rolfe and Rolfe converted.  Husson would add goals from Marila Corletto in the 31st minute and Natalie Aviolla in the 43rd minute to take a 4-0 lead into intermission.

Husson's Madi Griffin added a second half goal to complete the scoring.

The Eagles outshot the Hornets, 46-0, and had a 70%-30% possession advantage, with 85% of the play in Lyndon's own end of the field.  Carly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made 14 saves in goal, while Husson's Madison Weigler posted a clean sheet without facing a shot.

The Hornets will travel to New England College on Tuesday for a non-conference match.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
