Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hornet women's soccer team shut out at SUNY Delhi

Delhi, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's soccer team took to the road for a North Atlantic Conference crossover game on Saturday afternoon.  The Hornets came up on the short end of a 3-0 score at SUNY Delhi.  The host Broncos improve to 4-3 overall and sit atop the NAC West Division with a 2-0 mark in conference.  The Hornets remain winless in five contests, including two conference games.

Neither team was able to score during the first 40 minutes of the game.  Delhi had the better of the play, but several big saves by Hornet goalkeeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) kept the game even.  In the 41st minute Delhi finally broke through when Kelsey Innes found the back of the net with an assist from Alivia Cordero.

Delhi made it 2-0 in the 64th minute when Innes found Kristen Lombardo and Lombardo converted.  Just under four minutes later Micayla Slattery's unassisted goal extended the Bronco lead to 3-0.  That would prove to be the final, as the Hornets were unable to break through.

Cordwell finished with 13 saves while Delhi's starting keeper, Andraya Hunt, was only called on to make one stop, on a Riann Fortin (Derby, VT) shot in the 66th minute.

The Hornets are off until next Saturday, when they travel to the University of Maine at Farmington for another NAC matchup.  Game time is 1:00 pm.
