Nashua, NH - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon was unable to get their offense going in Thursday evening's women's soccer game. Rivier University scored twice in the first half and made that stand up for a non-conference victory. The Raiders improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Hornets remain winless in four outings.
Rivier got on the scoreboard in the 15th minute when Sami Blais found Mikayla Zulon and Zulon converted. The Raiders' Kaylee Magoon added another goal in the 28th minute and neither team was able to break through in the second half.
Rivier outshot Lyndon, 24-3, and had 11 corner kicks to none for the Hornets. Lyndon goalkeeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made 14 saves to keep the Hornets in the game while her Rivier counterpart, Emily Mikelson, was only called on to make two stops in recording the shutout.
Lyndon's next scheduled game is currently on Saturday, September 25th, at SUNY Delhi. The Hornets' North Atlantic Conference matchup against Maine Maritime Academy which was scheduled for Saturday and their non-conference tilt at Vermont Technical College which was scheduled for next Wednesday have both been postponed. Reschedule information for both games will be forthcoming soon.
