Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team hosted the first athletic contest of the new academic year on Wednesday evening.  Unfortunately for the Hornets, they came up on the short end of a 25-9, 25-1, 25-10 decision to NAIA member Fisher College.  The match was the season opener for both teams.

Fisher capitalized on Lyndon miscues to maintain control throughout the match.  The Falcons recorded 27 kills to 12 for the Hornets.  Lyndon also committed 16 attack errors to only two for the Falcons.

Macy Barnes paced the Fisher attack with 14 kills and Paola Velazquez tallied 14 assists.  Lia Aime and Edsyl Irrizary recorded 12 and eight digs respectively, with Irrizary adding seven aces.

Calysta Lohman (Seward, AK) and Kiana Jones (Wilbraham, MA) led Lyndon with four kills apiece.  Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) topped the Hornets with seven assists and seven digs.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Norwich University for the annual Vermont Volleyball Classic.  Lyndon will face Castleton University at 12:00 noon and the host Cadets at 2:00 pm.
