Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Waterville, ME - Thomas College scored early in game one and late in game two to sweep a doubleheader against Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Tuesday afternoon.  With the wins the Terriers improve to 7-3 on the season and 7-1 in NAC play.  The Hornets fall to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in conference.

Game 1 - Thomas 14, NVU-Lyndon 0

The hosts plated nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to the win.  Claudia Migliaccio had a triple, a double, and a single to lead the Thomas attack.  Madison Rock added two hits, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.  Victoria Valentine's (East Burke, VT) leadoff single was the only hit for the Hornets.  Marin Fowler (Plainfield, VT) walked in the second inning to give Lyndon its only other base runner.

Kelsey Currier and Migliaccio split the pitching duties for the Terriers, with Migliaccio getting the win.  Valentine started in the circle and tok the loss for Lyndon.

Game 2 - Thomas 9, NVU-Lyndon 1

The nightcap was a pitcher's duel in the early going.  Thomas got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they strung together four hits in a row to produce a pair of runs.  The Hornets got one run back in the top of the fourth, but Thomas broke things open with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  The big blow was a three-run home run from Kasey Champney.

Champney was the hitting star for the Terriers with a two hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs.  Rock also had a triple and a double.  Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) had two of Lyndon's five hits and scored the Hornets' only run.  Valentine added a double.

Chantel Ouellette went five innings, striking out seven, to pick up the win for the Terriers.  Valentine absorbed the loss in going the distance for the Hornets.

Lyndon will return to the diamond this weekend when they travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for a pair of NAC doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.  The Hornets had been scheduled to host NVU-Johnson tomorrow (Wednseday) but that doubleheader has been postponed until April 28th due to anticipated inclement weather.
