Game 1 - Husson 8, NVU-Lyndon 0
Husson wasted no time jumping in front, as the Eagles plated five runs on three hits and four walks in the bottom of the first inning. The big blows were pitcher Sydney Ames' leadoff double and a two-out, two-run single from Katie Windsor. Ames, Windsor, and Erin Bonefant each had a pair of hits in the game for Husson.
The Hornets couldn't get much going against Ames. Victoria Valentine's (East Burke, VT) first inning single and Jaydan Allinson's (Miami, AZ) third inning single were the only base hits. Lyndon's best chance to score came in the fourth inning when Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) reached on an error and moved to second on a passed ball. However Porter was thrown out at third when Gracie Ducker (Lyndonville, VT) hit into a fielder's choice, and the Hornets were unable to do any other damage.
Ames went the distance to earn the win, striking out four in the process. Valentine also piched a complete game, allowing seven earned runs and striking our four while picking up the loss.
Game 2 - Husson 14, NVU-Lyndon 2
A big inning again proved to be the Hornets' undoing. Leading 2-0, Husson broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jill Bisson's two-run base hit got the scoring started and the Eagles took advantage of four walks and a pair of Hornet errors.
Lyndon got on the scoreboard for the first time in the series in the top of the fourth inning. Ducker walked to lead off the inning, then Danielle Robinson (Strafford, VT) reached on an error, putting runners at second and third. Ashley Hart (Hampton, NH) then drove in Ducker when she grounded out. Robinson scored on a passed ball, cutting the Husson lead to 8-2.
Husson put the game away with six more runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Jen Jones delivered a three-run double to key the rally.
Whitney Bess had a triple and a single and drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles. Katie Raymond and Kimmie Goddard also had two hits apiece. Allinson, Porter, and Dyllynn Burton (Plainfield, VT) had the only hits for Lyndon.
Bisson pitched four innings and earned the win for the Eagles. Valentine went two innings plus two batters and took the loss for the Hornets. Allinson only allowed one earned run in two innings of relief for Lyndon.
The Hornets are on the road for another four game series next weekend as they will travel to Thomas College. Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 pm nd Sunday's twinbill will begin at noon.
