Box Score Bangor, ME - Husson University went on an 11-1 run three minutes into Saturday's men's college basketball game and cruised from there, defeating Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 105-66. The Eagles remain unbeaten at 3-0 on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-2.
Husson's DJ Bussey scored 11 of his team's first 17 points as the Eagles turned a one-point game into a 17-6 advantage seven minutes into the contest. The Hornets would cut the margin to 20-14 following a Levi Haviland (Poultney, VT) putback basket midway through the half, but Husson would answer with a 12-0 run to push the lead to 18. The Hornets would never pull back within single digits, as the Eagles continued to extend their advantage the rest of the game.
Bussey finished with 23 points to lead all scorers. Scott Lewis added 18 points and a game high 11 rebounds, and Justice Kendall also reached double figures with 13 points. Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY) led Lyndon 1ith 14 points while Haviland and Zach Falkenburgh (Bridgeport, NY) chipped in ten points each.
Husson scored 43 points off of 31 Hornet turnovers and picked up 23 second chance points. The Eagles made 43 of 93 shots (46.2%) while the Hornets were an ice cold 17 of 58 (29.3%).
The same two teams will play again on Sunday afternoon, this time in Lyndonville. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
