Lyndonville, VT - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon hosted Anna Maria College in its first annual Dig Pink match on Friday night. The visiting Amcats came away with a straight set victory, winning 25-15, 25-12, 25-9. Anna Maria improves to 6-17 on the season, while Lyndon remains winless in 21 matches.
Bella Kozciak paced Anna Maria with eight kills and five aces. Setter Sarah Burt recorded 13 assists and Serena Dennis finished with 11 digs. Kiana Jones (Wilbraham, MA) had seven kills for the Hornets. Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) posted 11 assists and Maceknzie Rametta (Cleveland, OH) had nine digs.
The Dig Pink match raised awareness and dollars for the Side-Out Foundation, an organization that funds research into metastatic breast cancer. Funds raised for Side-Out go toward research specifically for patients with metastatic breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease, and the least funded area of research. Every $2,000 raised through Dig Pink allows Side-Out to provide an unprecedented analysis to metastatic breast cancer patients and their oncologists. This unique analysis ranks treatment solutions and clinical trials for each patient that can substantially improve the length and quality of their life.
The Hornets will close out the season on Monday night, when they host Northern Vermont University-Johnson in a North Atlantic Conference matchup. The contest, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, will begin at 6:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.
