Castine, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon suffered a straight set defeat at the hands of Maine Maritime Academy in Sunday morning's North Atlantic Conference volleyball match. The Mariners prevailed by scores of 25-8, 25-6, 25-9, to remain atop the NAC East Division with a 6-0 conference record. MMA is now 12-6 on the season. Lyndon remains winless in 20 matches, including seven conference contests.
Rachel Melampy led MMA with 11 kills. Grace Jennings added five kills and four aces for the Mariners. MME setter Katie Albritton recorded 22 assists and Sydney Rich finished with eight digs. Kersene Austinville (Federalsburg, MD) had five kills for the Hornets. Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) tallied seven assists and a match high nine digs.
The Hornets will close out the season at home next weekend. Lyndon will host Anna Maria College in a non-conference match on Friday evening at 6:00 pm, then take on Northern Vermont University-Johnson Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
