Bangor, ME - Husson University scored five times in the first 15 minutes of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game with Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.  The Eagles went on to defeat the Hornets, 7-2, to remain on top of the NAC's East Division with a 7-0-1 conference record and an overall record of 11-2-3.  The Hornets fell to 1-12 on the season and 0-8 in conference play.
Husson wasted no time jumping in front, as Jahmal Williams found the net less than four minutes into the contest.  The Eagles would score four more times in the first 15 minutes, as Joao Passoni scored twice and assisted on a third goal to ignite the early Husson blitz.  Pedro Molina Sanchez and Arni Henderson each notched goals as well.
Gilbert Flores (Winsted, CT) got the Hornets on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute.  Just over two minutes later, Jacob Basemann (St. Johnsbury, VT) scored for the Hornets to narrow the Husson lead to 5-2.  In the 33rd minute, Williams picked up his second goal of the game to make the score 6-2, Husson, heading into halftime.
The second half was more tightly contested.  The only goal came in the 58th minute, when Nate Chamberland found Passoni, who converted for his third goal of the game.
Husson outshot Lyndon, 29-6, over the game.  The Eagles had 11 corner kicks to only one for the Hornets.  Hornet goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, VT) stopped six Husson shots, while Eagle starter Benjamin Powell earned the win and made two saves before giving way to Sam Cusson.
The Hornets will travel to Norwich University for a 7:00 pm non-conference matchup on Monday evening.
