Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hornet women's soccer falls to Cazenovia on Senior Day

Lyndonville, VT - Cazenovia College scored two goals in each half, spoiling Senior Day for the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's soccer team.  With the 4-0 victory, the Wildcats improve to 6-9 on the season and 3-4 in North Atlantic Conference play.  The Hornets fall to 1-9 on the season and remain winless in seven conference starts.

Cazenovia got on the board in the eighth minute when Riley Minor scored an unassisted goal following a Lyndon miscue.  The lead grew to 2-0 in the 18th minute after the Hornets gave up an own goal.  That's where things stayed into halftime.

The Wildcats tallied twice more in the second half.  Logan Lund finished a cross from Madelyn Lyons in the 55th minute, and then Dimetrina McIntyre scored on an unassisted breakaway in the 60th minute.

Cazenovia outshot Lyndon, 10-6, for the game and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.  McIntyre had six of the 10 Wildcat shots, while Riann Fortin (Derby, VT) had five of six Hornet shots.  Hornet goalkeeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made six saves, while Wildcat keeper Kaylana Criasia made two stops to earn the win and the shutout.

Lyndon honored its three seniors, wing Samantha Valentine (East Burke, VT), and defenders Arianna Moran (Marshfield, VT) and Raquel Madeja (Claremont, NH) prior to the game.  The seniors were greeted on the field by family and friends, and presented tokens of appreciation for their contributions to Hornet soccer.

The Hornets will return to Varsity Field on Wednesday afternoon when they host Mitchell College in a 3:00 pm non-conference contest.
