Box Score Johnson, VT - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon dropped a 77-71 decision to NVU-Johnson in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball on Tuesday evening. With the loss the Hornets conclude the 2019-2020 campaign with a 7-18 overall record and a 4-10 mark in NAC play. The Badgers improve to 7-18 overall and 5-9 in conference.
Lyndon took a 37-34 halftime lead but the Hornets were unable to hold off the Badgers thanks in large part to Johnson's dominance on the glass. Johnson outrebounded Lyndon by 11 in the second half and owned a 45-28 advantage for the contest. They recorded 16 offensive rebounds to four for the Hornets. That was enough for the Badgers to overcome Lyndon's shooting edge. The Hornets went 25/55 (45.1%) from the floor including 12/22 from behind the three-point arc while Johnson was 30/68 (44.1%) including 4/14 (28.6%) from distance.
Robert DuBose led Johnson with 29 points, with Tyhee Taylor adding 15. Floyd Davis posted a double double with 12 points and 17 rebounds and Kiyl Mack recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.
Damon Denteh (Jamaica, NY) paced Lyndon with 15 points. Luke Fredsell (Whitesboro, NY) tallied 14 points, all in the first half, and Zach Falkenburg (Bridgeport, NY) chipped in with ten points and seven rebounds.
The Hornets finished with three more wins than a season ago and doubled their NAC victory total. Tuesday's game was the last for seniors Denteh and Timothy Hoar (Shelburne Falls, MA). The other 14 players on the Lyndon roster are expected to return and form the core of the 2020-2021 team.
