Box Score Plymouth, NH - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon fell behind Plymouth State University 21-2 at the start of Tuesday's non-conference men's basketball game. The Hornets never recovered and fell to the Panthers, 92-60. Plymouth State improves to 11-7 on the season while Lyndon falls to 4-14.
The Panthers scored the first seven points of the game before Kyle Cary (Selkirk, NY) got the Hornets on the board with a putback basket. Plymouth then ran off another 14 unanswered points and never looked back.
Jaylen LeRoy scored 15 of Plymouth's first 21 points and finished with a game high 26. Gerald Fleming was a perfect 6/6 from the floor for the Panthers, finishing with 13 points. Dante Rivera also reached double figures with 11 points. Devin Cooper pulled down ten rebounds and handed out five assists.
Cary paced the Hornets with 12 points and eight rebounds. Zach Falkenburg (Bridgeport, NY) was the only other Hornet in double figures, as he finished with ten points.
Plymouth made 38 of 79 shots (48.1%), including ten of 24 (41.7%) from beyond the three-point arc. Meanwhile Lyndon only connected on 22 of 59 attempts (37.3%), going 9/30 (30.0%) from distance. The Hornets also struggled from the fre throw line, only making seven of 21 attempts (33.3%). Plymouth dominated on the glass, outrebounding Lyndon 58-29.
The Hornets get back into North Atlantic Conference play at the University of Maine at Presque Isle this weekend. The Hornets and the Owls tip off at 7:30 pm on Friday, then run it back Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
