Box Score 2 Waterville, ME – The Lyndon State College softball team was unable to get a run across the plate on Sunday afternoon, dropping both ends of a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Thomas College, 8-0 and 14-0. Thomas improves to 18-13 on the season and 8-2 in NAC play while the Hornets remain winless in 16 starts, including 6 in conference play.
Game 1 - Thomas 8, Lyndon 0
The Terriers plated four runs in the opening frame to take an early lead. With the bases loaded, Lauren Farina (Schenectady, NY) smacked a double to left center. MacKenzie Oberholzer (Greencastle, Pa.) followed with an RBI single to make it 4-0.
Thomas extended its lead in the second inning as scored four unearned runs. Lexi Colpack (Franklin, NH) came in on a wild pitch while Julia Nadeau (Randolph, ME) knocked a bases clearing double to finish the scoring at 8-0.
The Hornets only managed three hits in the contest. Amber Roberts (Berlin, NH) and Madeline DeGroot (Canton, ME) each recorded singles while Cassie Black (Tolland, CT) hit a double in the fifth inning.
Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, VT) threw all five innings in the win for Thomas, scattering three hits and allowing no runs. Kiya DeWitt (Pittsburg, NH) took the loss, yielding four earned runs and five hits.
Game 2 - Thomas 14, Lyndon 0
The Thomas offense brought around four runs in the first inning including an inside the park homerun from Colpack and RBI singles by Kayla Bess (Madison, ME) and Chiara Stone (Jensen Beach, FL). The Terriers added three more in the second keyed by Katlyn Coulter's (Jefferson, NH) double and a single by Oberholzer.
The Terriers continued to pull away with four more runs in the third and three in the fourth to make it 14-0. Colpack, Coulter, Bess, and Stone all finished 2-for-3 in the win, combining for 7 RBI. Hannah Choiniere (Highgate, VT) and Charlotte Winslow (Pittsford, VT) had the only two hits for the Hornets.
Coulter took the win in the circle for Thomas, allowing only one hit in three innings. Roberts went the distance and took the loss for Lyndon.
The Hornets will travel to Johnson State College for a 3:30 pm NAC doubleheader on Tuesday. Thomas will host Colby College on Tuesday.
