Bangor, ME - At halftime of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference match the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer team found itself in a scoreless tie with Husson University.  Unfortunately for the Hornets, they were unable to keep the host Eagles at bay in the second half, and came up on the short end of a 3-0 final score.  Husson improves to 7-8-1 on the season and 5-1-1 in NAC play, while the Hornets fall to 1-13 overall and 1-5 in conference.

The first half was tightly contested, with both teams finding scoring opportunities hard to come by.  That would change in the second half, as Husson outshot the Hornets 20-0 after intermission and found the net three times.  Nathan Firlings, Alvaro Valls, and Dylan Bryce recorded the Husson goals.

The Eagles ended the contest with a 26-2 shot advantage and a 13-0 corner kick margin.  Nolan Matthews' (Massapequa, NY) two first half shots were the only ones that the Hornets could muster on the afternoon.  Hornet goalkeepers Caleb Derbyshire (Barton, VT) and Dennis Farnham III (Orono, ME) combined for nine saves while Eagle keeper Kyle Townsend only faced a single shot on goal.

The Hornets will close out the regular season on Tuesday afternoon when they play at the University of Maine at Farmington.  Kickoff is at 2:30 pm.  The Hornets and Beavers are currently tied for the final spot in the NAC Championship Tournament.  The winner of the match will earn entry, while the loser will see their season end.
