Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon freshman men's soccer players Cayden Cowley (Pahrump, NV) and Adrian Placencia (Lincoln, CA) have been named to the North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Honor Roll for the week ending October 25th, as announced by the conference on Monday. The Honor Roll recognizes the top performers in the conference over the past week. Cowley and Placencia are the first Lyndon players to be named to the Men's Soccer Honor Roll since its institution a year ago.
Cowley started all three games in goal for the Hornets last week. On Wednesday he backstopped Lyndon's first win of the season, a 3-1 victory over Vermont State University Randolph, making four saves on five shots on goal. He followed that up with back to back ten save efforts at Albany College of Pharmacy on Thursday, and at home in a NAC matchup against the University of Maine at Farmington. For the week he made 24 saves on 30 shots on goal, an 80% save percentage. He also saved a pair of penalty kicks last week.
Placencia factored into all three Hornet goals in the win over VTSU Randolph. He scored the first Hornet goal of the game early in the second half to pull the Hornets even. Placencia then delivered a free kick to Jason Nofsker (Virginia Beach, VA), who converted to put the Hornets in front. He then added an insurance goal to seal the win. Placencia also found the net against Albany Pharmacy for Lyndon's only other goal last week. He is Lyndon's leading goal scorer on the season.
Cowley, Placencia, and the Hornets close out their season on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Vermont State University Johnson for another NAC matchup.
