Box Score Poultney, VT - The Lyndon State College men's soccer team took to the road on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 victory at Green Mountain College.  The Hornets raised their overall record to 4-2 and moved to 1-2 in North Atlantic Conference play.  Green Mountain falls to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the NAC.
Lyndon put pressure on the Eagle net right from the start.  In the 36th minute the Hornets finally broke through in the scoring column.  After Dylan Cherko (Manchester, CT) hit the post senior Jose Darias (Sudbury, MA) was able to put the ball in the net for his first goal of the season.  The Hornets controlled play most of the half, as Green Mountain didn't record his first shot until the final minute of the half.
The Hornets started the second half right where they left off in the first, but were unable to break through again until junior Nolan Matthews (Massapequa, NY) found the back of the net in the 80th minute, off of an assist from Nate Kolash (Dubois, PA).  Cherko quickly followed up by extending the lead to 3-0, with an assist from Devin Cowan (Saranac Lake, NY).
Senior Matt LaClair (Beekmantown, NY) posted the clean sheet in goal.  LaClair had a quite day between the pipes, as he was only called upon to make one save.  Green Mountain goalkeeper Griffin Shelor (Cedar Park, TX) recorded 11 saves as the Hornets outshot the Eagles, 38-3.
Lyndon heads to Maine for a pair of NAC contests this weekend.  The Hornets play at Husson College on Saturday afternoon and follow that up with a noon start at Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday.  Green Mountain hosts New England College on Saturday at noon.
