Lyndon Men's Soccer falls 1-0 at Maine-Farmington in NAC opener

Box Score

Farmington, ME - The Lyndon Hornets men's soccer team dropped their North Atlantic Conference opener, 1-0, to the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Farmington improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the NAC.  Lyndon drops to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The Hornets played the Beavers to a 0-0 standstill in the first half, thanks largely to the play of senior goalkeeper Matt LaClair (Beekmantown, NY).  LaClair made a diving save on Farmington's Biwi Aden (Lewiston, ME) in the 38th minute, and made another spectacular save against Farmington's Enzo Gascogne (St. Philbert De Peuple, France) late in the first half.

Farmington broke through in the 62nd minute, when Yusef Yama (Kigoma, Tanzania) scored off of an assist from Jake Richardson (Farmington, NH) to put the hosts in front, 1-0.  That would prove to be the only goal of the contest, as Beaver goalkeper Matt Wilson (Hamden, CT) was able to turn away all six of the Hornets' shots on goal.  LaClair posted seven saves for Lyndon.

Lyndon returns to the pitch on Wednesday, when they travel to Wheelock College for a 7:30 non-conference matchup.  Maine-Farmington's next contest will be on Tuesday at Husson University
