Box Score 2 HENNICKER, N.H. – The Lyndon State College softball team traveled to New England College to play against UMaine-Presque Isle in non-conference action Saturday afternoon, dropping the games 15-1, 8-0.
Game 1
The Owls got on the board first as Ariel Williams scored on a fielding error. The Hornet's Kiya DeWitt (Pittsburg, N.H.) would respond in the bottom of the first tying it at 1-1, the lone run for the Hornets for the game.
Williams sliced a homer for the Owls in the top of the second. The Owls continued scoring from there getting four in the third, six in the fourth, and finished with three in the fifth to take the 15-1 victory in five innings.
Williams went 2-for-3 at bat with three runs, nailing two homeruns and three RBIs. Sara Packard also went 2-for-3 with three runs and one homerun and five RBIs.
DeWitt went 2-for-3 at bat getting the lone run for the Hornets as Brooke Dolloff (Rumford, Maine) collected the lone RBI.
Packard pitched a complete game allowing three hits and one run while striking out nine for the win. Shelby Sheridan (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) saw three innings allowing ten hits and ten runs.
Game 2
The Owls were held to one run in the first and the second, making it 2-0. The Hornets held the Owls scoreless in the third. The Owls went on to score two in the fourth and four in the sixth to finish off the game 8-0.
Delanie Strout went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI for the Owls. Meghan Campo (Essex Junction, Vt.) went 1-for-2 at bat for the Hornets.
Kiya DeWitt pitched a complete inning allowing 11 hits, 8 runs, while striking out three. Packard picked up the win again striking out three and giving up two hits.
Lyndon travels to Husson University on Sunday, April 23rd and then travels to Castleton on Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. start.
