Box Score Plymouth, NH - The Lyndon State College men's soccer team gave up three first half goals and was never able to recover, as they dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision at Plymouth State University on Tuesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Hornets to 5-8-1 on the season, while the Panthers improved to 5-8.
Plymouth got on the board in the 13th minute, as Erik Ljunglof (Orebro, Sweden) converted a penalty kick following a whistle in the box. The Panthers made it 2-0 at the 25 minute mark when Dan Shaw (Winchester, England) put a Ljunglof corner kick into the back of the net. Five minutes later Harvest Perez (Walpole, MA) made it 3-0 when he fired home a cross from Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Austrailia).
After being held without a shot in the opening half, the Hornets were able to even out the play somewhat following intermission. That didn't translate into any goals, however, as neither team was able to tally in the second half.
The Panthers outshot the Hornets 27-5 for the contest. Lyndon goalkeeper Matt LaClair (Beekmantown, NY) posted ten saves, while Plymouth keeper Jimmy Mansour (Auburn, NH) recorded five saves.
The Hornets will close out the season at home this Saturday with a Senior Day contest against Johnson State College. Lyndon seniors Joshua Thibault (Glover, VT), Jose Darias (Sudbury, MA), Nate Kolash (Dubois, PA), Dylan Jacobs (Braintree, VT), Matt LaClair, Liam Kelleher (Manchester, VT), and Bradley Shumway (Bloomingdale, NY) will be honored prior to the contest. Plymouth will host Western Connecticut State University on Saturday.
