Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Lyndon State College men's soccer team hit the road to take on Thomas College Saturday, falling to the Terriers 7-1.
Thomas opened the scoring less than two minutes in when Willie Clemons (Paget, Bermuda) found Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead.
The Hornets answered right back two minutes later with a goal by Devin Cowan (Saranac Lake, N.Y.), assisted by Hunter Torrey (Newbury, Vt.).
LaBrie regained the lead for Thomas in the 16th minute when he scored off a pass from London Steede-Jackson (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda). Thomas received goals from DJ Nicholas (Portland, Maine), Kyle Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine), and Ibrahim Moustapher (Blantyre, Malawi) to go into the half with a 5-1 lead.
Six minutes into the second, Reid pushed the Thomas lead to 6-1 on a goal assisted by Clemons. Zeon Robinson (Hamilton, Bermuda) tacked on another goal for the Terriers, assisted by Nicholas, to bring the final score to 7-1.
Matt LaClair (Beekmantown, N.Y.) received the loss for the Hornets, making 10 saves. LaClair was relieved midway through the second by Caleb Derbyshire (Barton, Vt.), who made two saves.
Joakim Sternas (Stockholm, Sweden) earned the win in goal for the Terriers, making three saves. Sternas was replaced by Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H.) in the second half, who stopped 7 shots in relief.
The Hornets (5-7-0, 2-6 NAC) host Plymouth State University Monday at 3:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
The Terriers' next game will be on Saturday, October 22, as they host NAC opponent New England College in a 3:30 p.m. match at Smith Field.
