Terriers take down Hornets

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Dakota Duplissie scored two goals Saturday to lead Thomas to a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference men's soccer victory over Lyndon.

Joshua Phelps gave the Terriers the lead for good 22:36 into the opening half off an assist from Tre Ming. Ming picked off an errant clearing pass and fed the ball to Phelps, who deposited a shot into the lower left corner of the net.

Lyndon managed to put together a few solid runs at the Thomas net, only to be denied by Terrier goalkeeper Mikkail Cromwell, who turned aside three shots to record the shut out.
The Hornets trailed by a single goal until the 77:59 mark of the second half when Duplissie notched the first of his two unassisted goals on the afternoon. Duplissie's final marker came with 7:51 left to play.

Lyndon goalie Jason Marks (Newtown, Conn.) made five saves in the loss.

Thomas (4-2, 1-0) out shot Lyndon (0-5-1, 0-1) by a margin of 21-6 and held a7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
