Lyndon beats New England

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Jason Gray turned in an outstanding all-around performance as Lyndon defeated New England 91-71 Saturday at Stannard Gymnasium. The senior forward from East Thetford, Vt. had 14 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots and three assists in the contest as the Hornets improved to 9-9 overall and 8-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.

The Hornets jumped out to a 47-33 halftime lead behind an 11-point effort from freshman guard Devon Rollins (Winooski, Vt.), who took full advantage of the first start of his collegiate career. Lyndon continued to build on its lead in the second half and send the Pilgrims on to their ninth NAC loss of the season.

Rollins finished the contest with 13 points and Devyn Baranauskas (waterbury, Vt.) chipped in a game-high 16. David Johnson added 14 points off the bench while George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) and David Lorden (Pepperell, Mass.) tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively. Jose Fortunato (Boston, Mass.) handed out seven assists for the winners and Carle grabbed six rebounds.

Jonathan Byrnes and Joel DeMadet had 10 points each for New England (1-17, 1-10); and Brynes dished out a team-high five assists. Rob Cassell collected six rebounds in the loss and Ryan Schmitz had five steals.
