LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon and Johnson State softball programs renewed their long-time rivalry at Skip Pound Field. The Badgers rallied from a two-run deficit in the seventh to record a 10-7 win in Game 1 and the Hornets, behind a stellar effort from pitching ace Meghan Gadapee (Littleton, N.H.), took Game 2 by a score of 2-0.

In the opener, Madeline Pritchard's pinch –hit two-run double was the big blow as Johnson plated five runs in its final at bat to steal the win. Tanya Randall had a three-run triple in the contest and Emily Himberg had two hits to lead the Badgers.

Meagan Russ went the distance to earn the win. She allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits while striking out four and walking five.

Ashley Barski (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Alise Vandal (North Andover, Mass.) had two hits each for Lyndon while Hanna White (West Newbury, Vt.) chipped in two hits and three RBIs. Katie Davis (North Haverhill, N.H.) was credited with the loss. She allowed eight earned runs on eight hits while fanning 10 and walking four.

In the nightcap, Gadapee was masterful. She scattered seven hits while striking out two and walking one. Jena Finnegan (Keeseville, N.Y.) broke out of a hitting slump with a pair of hits as the Hornets improved to 9-15 overall and 1-5 in the NAC.

Erica Pustari had two hits for Johnson (8-15-1, 2-2-1), and Kristy McDonnell was tagged with the loss. She allowed one earned run on four hits while fanning one and walking four.
