Terriers topple Hornets

Box Score

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Thomas College remained unbeaten in North Atlantic Conference play Saturday with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Lyndon at the Lyndon Athletics Field. The win ups the Terriers record to 11-2-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the NAC while the Hornets close out their regular season with an overall mark of 4-13 and a league record of 3-6.

Kenny Cano gave Thomas a 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the game off an assist from Khamisi Lightbourne. The advantage stood into early in the second half when Lyndon's Patrice Lumumba (Burlington, Vt.) took a through ball from Stefan Vergura (Waitsfield, Vt.) and drilled a shot into the lower right corner of the net.

Unfortunately for Lyndon, its momentum did not last long as Thomas stormed back to retake the lead just over one minute later. Dakota Duplisse picked a pass from Marcus Johnson just inside the penalty area, side-stepped a Hornet defender and fired home a shot from 15 meters out.

Lightbourne provided an insurance goal late in the contest when Lyndon goalkeeper Jason Gary (East thetford, Vt.) misplayed a ball that rolled through his legs and into the net.

Mikkail Cromwell made three saves for the Terriers and Gray had seven or the Hornets. Thomas outshot Lyndon 20-11 in the game while the Hornets held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
