Box Score POULTNEY, Vt. – Lyndon scored a goal in
the first half and a pair in the second to claim a 3-0 victory in
North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.
Emmitt Simpson (Barton, Vt.) opened the scoring with just 13
seconds left in the first half, converting a feed from Matt Browne
(Seymour, Conn.) giving the Hornets a 1-0 advantage at the
interval.
Ben Taylor (Barre, Vt.) doubled the lead in the 62nd minute when
he found an opening near the right side of the box and struck a low
ball to the back post just out of the reach of Green Mountain Nate
Kishabugh. Patrice Lamumba (Burlington, Vt.) added a third
with just one minute left in to the contest.
After conceding twice, the Eagles came to life and were unlucky
not to cut the lead in half when a goal by Andrew Sanders was
disallowed. Minutes later, Charly Thevenau rang a shot off the
inside of the post and watched it travel across the face of the
frame to be cleared by a Lyndon defender.
The Hornets outshot the eagles 20-7 on the afternoon, forcing
Kishbaugh into seven saves. Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.)
made three saves en route to a clean sheet for LSC.
