Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Tyler Bullard (Hyde
Park, Vt.) celebrated his Senior Day at Lyndon by scoring the
game-winning goal in the Hornets' 3-0 victory over Vermont
Tech.
With 1:09 remaining in the first half, Lyndon's Andrew
O'Brien (Ware, Mass.) sent a cross into the middle of the
penalty area to Bullard, who deposited a shot into the left side of
the net behind Green Knights' goalkeeper Darren Rivard.
The Hornets had multiple chances to take or extend the lead
throughout the game, but many of their shots sailed just high or
wide of the goal. Lyndon finally picked up an insurance goal at the
81:21 mark when Patrice Lumumba (Burlington, Vt.) scored off a
through ball from Mark Blinten (Plainville, Mass.).
Just over three minutes later, Lumumba fed Richard Hackett
(Barton, Vt.) for the final goal of the game as Lyndon closed out
the regular season with a win and upped its overall record to
10-3-3.
Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) made two saves for Lyndon to
earn his sixth shutout of the season while Rivard and Justin Gray
combined to make a total of six saves in the contest for VTC (4-9).
The Hornets outshot the Green Knights 23-8 in the contest.
Prior to the match, Bullard, Blinten and fellow senior Ben
Taylor (Barre, Vt.) were honored for their contributions and four
years of service to the Lyndon men's soccer program. Each was
presented an autographed soccer ball that bears the signatures of
the Hornet players and coaching staff.
Lyndon will now remain idle until it learns its seeding in the
upcoming North Atlantic Conference playoffs which get underway on
Tuesday.
