Brian Maurer joined the Hornets Men's and Women's soccer coaching staff in 2023. He has served primarily as the Goalkeeping Coach for both programs, with 8 games of experience filling in as interim head coach.
He is a 2014 graduate of Concord University in Athens, WV, earning a bachelor's degree in Sports Management. Later that year he received his Goalkeeping Level One diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Maurer came to Lyndon after two seasons as the Goalkeeping Coach for Chestnut Hill College women's soccer and one season with Rosemont College women's soccer. In the 2015 season, Rosemont goalkeepers set team and individual records for save percentage, which still stand. He also served as the Head Coach of the boys varsity soccer team at the Preparatory Charter High School in Philadelphia, PA for one season.
At the club level, Maurer has been an assistant for the U16B teams at FC Montco and Jeffersonville SC and currently with the Caledonia Flood U16G and U19G teams.
Maurer's college playing career consisted of two seasons as a goalkeeper and striker for an Ocean County College team that was ranked as high as #5 in the NJCAA, before transferring to NCAA division II Concord University, where he made eight appearances in goal as a senior. Maurer also spent his freshman year at Bacone College in Muskogee, OK on an NAIA track scholarship, where he competed in sprints from the 60 meter to 800 meter as well as the long jump.
Maurer's club playing career spanned several seasons in the semi-professional Garden State Soccer League. During his senior season at Concord, he also took part in practice trials with the Central Jersey Spartans and Southern West Virginia King's Warriors of the USL PDL (now USL League Two). Maurer finished his playing career in 2014 with Brick Lions FC (now Jackson Lions of the NPSL)
He currently lives and works in St Johnsbury, VT.
