Chris Dorsey just completed his third year at the helm of the Lyndon State College men’s basketball program for the 2016-17 season. Under Dorsey’s leadership, the team has compiled an overall record of 33-45 and a North Atlantic Conference record of 29-27. Coach Dorsey has guided Lyndon to three consecutive NAC Tournament appearances and competed in the Conference Semifinal game in 2015 and 2017. Under Dorsey’s guidance, three players have been named to the North Atlantic All-Conference teams: David Johnson, Kevin Love, and Charles Correa Jr. In Dorsey’s first season, Johnson earned 1st team All-NAC honors. In 2016, Love was awarded the NAC Rookie-of-the-Year, and in 2017 Correa Jr. was selected to the All-NAC 2nd team.
Prior to the head men’s basketball coach position at Lyndon, Coach Dorsey served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Virginia College at Wise, an NCAA Division II institution. Coach Dorsey was instrumental in the offensive development of the program which defeated #2 nationally ranked Shawnee State University and #21 St. Catherine’s University. He also helped produce one 1st team All-Conference selection, Chelsie Cluseman and the Mid-South Conference Rookie-of-the Year, Makenzie Cluseman. Chelsie Cluseman completed the season earning 3rd team NAIA All-American honors and finished her career as the school’s 10th all-time leading scorer. Dorsey also advised three Academic All-Americans and five Academic All-Conference selections.
In 2008, he was named the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach/Strength and Conditioning Coach at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, N.H. In his first year at Daniel Webster, Dorsey helped guide the Eagles to their best overall season, 18-10. He helped foster the greatest turnaround in program history, which included a final-four appearance in the NECC Tournament and Daniel Webster's first-ever trip to the ECAC New England Championship Tournament. He also coached and developed Chris Hanson and Daris Cosby, the program’s second and sixth all-time leading scorers, respectively. His efforts transformed DWC into an annual playoff contender who qualified for post-season play each year.
Dorsey, arguably one of the best players to wear the Hornet uniform, was co-captain of the 2004-05 squad which earned the best record in the history of the institution, 23-5. He was also named Lyndon’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2004-05 after topping the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio and assists per game (8.4).
Dorsey graduated from Lyndon in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning. Upon graduation, he spent two years teaching Physical Education electives at Lyndon while holding the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.
Coach Dorsey is also the Facilities Director at Lyndon and is an adjunct instructor.
