Ryan Acosta joined the Lyndon baseball program in January of 2023. He will serve as an assistant coach for the Hornets. This is Acosta's first collegiate position following a career in professional baseball.
Born in West Texas and raised in Eastern New Mexico’s ranching and farming community, Acosta’s cowboy upbringing was enriched with respect, toughness, and a firm gripped handshake. Oscar Acosta, Ryan’s father, was a professional baseball player and coach. Acosta traveled the world growing from every experience, opportunity, and cultural experience.
After being a standout baseball player, a two-time All-American, and signing a Division I scholarship to play in the SEC, Acosta was drafted and signed as a professional athlete at the age of 18. After 8 years of facing successes and failures, Acosta retired from his playing career.
Acosta’s deep passion to remain in the game of baseball was challenged briefly, then shortly after re-directing his perception in life and for the game of baseball, purpose was revealed in a form known well to Acosta; as a developer. Focusing on the internal and external progression necessary for the player to level up, Acosta possesses strong management and leadership skills with unique perspective as a champion and a developer in the game of baseball.
Acosta will assist the Hornets in all aspects of the program.
