Paul Smith's, NY - The Vermont State University Lyndon volleyball team traveled to Paul Smith's College for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  The trip turned out to be eventful, as the Hornets swept the Bobcats, winning both matches, 3-1, to earn their first two wins of the young season.  The wins were also the first for first-year Hornet head coach Steven Friscia.  Lyndon improved to 2-4, while Paul Smith's fell to 1-7.

Match #1 - VTSU Lyndon 3, Paul Smith's 1 (25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16)

Kacie Nelson (St. Johnsbury, VT) and Emily Lopez (Chicago, IL) led the Hornets with nine kills each, while recording 11 and nine digs respectively.  Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) added eight kills and eight digs.  Setter Haylee Walker (Sierra Blanca, TX) posted 25 assists and 13 digs.  Yaniya Davis (Colchester, VT) added 12 digs.

Match #2 - VTSU Lyndon 3, Paul Smith's 1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19)

Clegg led the way with 13 kills and 24 digs.  Lopez finished with ten kills and ten assists.  Walker had another big match with 28 assists and ten digs.  Nelson and Davis finished with 12 and ten digs respectively.

The Hornets will host Albertus Magnus in their home opener on Friday evening at 5:00 pm.
