Utica, NY - The Vermont State University women's cross country team battled the elements in competing against the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute and Utica University in a pair of dual races on Sunday morning. The Hornets fell 25-30 to Poly and 20-35 to Utica. The races were noteworthy in that they marked the first complete women's team results since 2019.
Kaitlyn Frydenlund (Westminster, CO) was the first Hornet to cross the finish line, completing the 3K course in 18:05. Verna Stoddard (Orleans, VT) was next in 18:53. Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ), Hawa Mubarak (Burlington, VT), and Keira Quintal (Sheffield, VT) were Lyndon's other scoring runners.
Hornet cross country coach Chris Chichester was impressed with how the women handled the elements. "Despite the freezing cold and driving snow at SUNY Poly, the women showed the heart of true competitors—pushing through conditions that would stop most, and representing our program with grit and pride."
