Cobleskill, NY — The State University of New York at Cobleskill defeated Vermont State University Lyndon, 3-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game Monday afternoon at the Cobleskill Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The Fighting Tigers scored twice in the opening half to take control. Gavin McEnroe opened the scoring in the 19th minute, heading home a pass from Samuel Spraker. Cobleskill added an own goal in the 24th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Spencer Reisman tacked on Cobleskill's third goal in the 84th minute, scoring off an assist from Jack Jewett.
The Fighting Tigers finished with a 19-3 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in shots on goal. Lyndon goalkeeper Cayden Cowley (Pahrump, NV) made five saves in 29 minutes, while Gavin Getz (Helotes, TX) stopped four shots over the final 61 minutes. Ethan Cardenas (Tracy, CA) recorded Lyndon's only shot on goal, while Gavin Rummler (Victorville, CA) added two shots.
Sean Hanrahan stopped the only shot he faced to pick up the clean sheet and the win.
The Hornets fell to 0-8-1 overall, while Cobleskill improved to 1-6-3. Lyndon returns to the pitch on Saturday, when it travels to Lesley Universit for a 6 p.m. North Atlantic Conference match In Somerville, MA.
