Castine, ME - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's basketball team dropped an 86–35 decision to Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon. The Mariners improved to 8–4 overall and 8–0 in conference action, while the Hornets moved to 8–5 overall and 3–3 in the NAC.
Lyndon struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Maine Maritime's pressure defense, shooting just 14.6 percent from the field for the game. The Hornets fell behind by as many as 26 points in the first half and never recovered.
Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) led Lyndon with eight points and four rebounds, while Kiara Mack (Milton, VT) added seven points. Keira Quintal (Sheffield, VT) pulled down a team best six rebounds.
Maine Maritime was paced by Evelyn Dagan, who scored a game-high 15 points. Addison Forry recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Jacquelin Castro added 12 points. Hailey Blanchard chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds as the Mariners placed four players in double figures.
The Hornets return home for a pair of NAC games this weekend. Lyndon will host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday and Husson University on Sunday. Both games will tip off at 3:00 pm.
