Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball player Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) has been named to the North Atlantic Conference Honor Roll for the period ending January 11th, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This week's awards encompass all games played from December 15th through January 14th.
Gonyea earned the distinction on the basis of his 32 point effort against Husson University on Sunday. That output moved Gonyea past Lyndon Hall of Famer Jason Gray '13, who scored 1,345 points from 2009 through 2013. Gonyea now has 1,351 in his career thus far.
Gonyea averaged 23 points per game in Lyndon's four NAC contests over the past week. He's averaging 20.8 points per game on the season, placing him second in the conference in scoring behind teammate Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY). In conference games he's scoring at a 25.1 point per game clip, tying him for second behind McIntyre with the University of Maine at Farmington's Zach McLaughlin.
Gonyea and the Hornets will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Vermont State University Johnson at 1:00 pm.
