VTSU Lyndon names Brianna Watson as its new Head Athletic Trainer

Lyndonville, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon has named Brianna Watson as its new Head Athletic Trainer.  Watson will be responsible for the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and medical well-being of Lyndon's over 150 student athletes competing in 12 NCAA Division III varsity sports.

Watson comes to Lyndon after spending the past two plus years working as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Tennessee Orthopedic Associates.  In that role she was assigned as an athletic trainer at the Christian Academy of Knoxville in Knoxville, TN, a private, non-denominational Christian school in Knoxville.  There she worked with middle and high school athletes competing in football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, track & field, golf, tennis, and wrestling.

Prior to her time at Knoxville Christian, Watson spent a year as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Carson-Newman University, an NCAA Division II institution in Knoxville, TN.  While there, she worked with athletes competing in the Eagles' 21 varsity athletic programs.  She was the primary athletic trainer for men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track & field, and was the secondary trainer for football.

Watson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH, in 2021.  She earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Plymouth State and her Athletic Training Board Certification in 2022.

Watson is a native or northern New Hampshire, and is looking forward to returning to the area and working with Hornet athletes.  "I am excited to be coming to Vermont State University Lyndon!  I grew up in Jefferson, NH, before moving to Knoxville,TN.  I'm excited to be moving back to northern NH and VT to serve as the Athletic Trainer at Lyndon!  I will be working with all the sports teams to help with diagnosing, assessing, preventing and treating any injury that may happen while competing in athletics at Lyndon.  I'm excited to be a part of the culture and the community and can't wait to meet all the athletes."

VTSU Lyndon Director of Athletics Chris Gilmore is thrilled that Watson will be joining the Hornet athletic staff.  "Brianna's energy and passion for the student athletes under her care became evident as we went through the Interview process.  Her knowledge of college athletics and her previous experiences make her the right choice for VTSU Lyndon athletics.  We are very excited for her to start."

Watson is expected to begin her tenure at Lyndon in early October.
