Farmington, ME - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's soccer team dropped a 10-0 decision to the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference play.
The Beavers struck early and often, building a 6-0 halftime lead behind goals from Annimer Ibrahim, JJ Greenlaw, Vishal Mellor, Caelan Billings, Garrett Gendreau, and Monte Weaver. Ibrahim opened the scoring just under five minutes into the contest and later added an assist.
UMF kept the momentum after the break, adding four more goals in the second half. Jordan Castonguay netted a pair, while Owen Dakin and Jackson Landry also found the back of the net to close out the scoring.
The Beavers outshot the Hornets 39-0, including a 24-0 margin in shots on goal. Lyndon goalkeepers Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) and Parker Pierce (Woodstock, VT) combined to make 14 saves, with Buchanan stopping 11 in the first half. UMF did not face a shot on goal.
With today's result, Lyndon falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in NAC play, while UMF improves to 2-2-1 and 1-0 in the conference.
The Hornets return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Vermont State University Johnson in another NAC matchup. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. on Varsity Field.
