Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Paul Smith's pulls away from Hornet men in the second half

Lyndonville, VT - After a tightly contested opening half, Paul Smith's College found the back of the net four times after intermission to come away with a 5-0 men's soccer victory over Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday afternoon.  The Bobcats improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Hornets fell to 0-2.

Nathan Wiley got Paul Smith's on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute.  That was the only tally in the opening half, as the Bobcats and Hornets battled on nearly even terms.  Lyndon outshot Paul Smith's, 7-6, but was unable to put a shot past Bobcat goalkeeper Cazmir Couble.

The Bobcats gradually took control after halftime.  Goals from Maddox Johnson and Wiley 41 seconds apart gave Paul Smith's a 3-0 lead in the 56th minute.  Riley King added a goal in the 79th minute and Kagan Hance capped the scoring with a tally in the final minute.

Paul Smith's outshot Lyndon, 15-9, for the game.  Couble made three saves in recording a clean sheet, while Hornet goalkeeper Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) made five stops in goal.  Zinabu McNeice (Brattleboro, VT), Perceval Hess (Arlington, VT), and Joaquin Torres (Bloomfield, NJ) had the three Lyndon shots on goal.

The Hornets will return to Varsity Field next Saturday in search of their first victory when they host New England College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
